oday, Hewlett-Packard officially announced that support for webOS will come to a halt.

Per their press release:

"[…] HP reported that it plans to announce that it will discontinue operations for webOS devices, specifically the TouchPad and webOS phones. HP will continue to explore options to optimize the value of webOS software going forward."

Prior to HP's run with webOS, the intuitive operating system was property of Palm and began its existence on the Pre and Pixi smartphones. After the $1.2 billion purchase, HP launched the Pre2 and Veer smartphones and the TouchPad tablet.
