Well, that's got to be a new one (ROM related)

A ROM site removed a game due to copyright complaints. Err what?

That's like the Pirate Bay removing a song because of the RIAA complained about it. Even more amusing given it was a ROM hack rather than a normal ROM that was removed...

I doubt CoolROM is anywhere near as large as PirateBay was/is to help it aoid prosecution. And it's really no weirder to remove a romhack, then a straight rom. Unless I'm completely misunderstanding the term, does a romhack not use at least some of the original coding and whatnot from the source rom? The original creators have just as much right to pull any content using their original files as they do the original product if stolen.

I mean, if I wrote a novel, and copied and pasted a bunch of chapters/paragraphs from someone else's novel into it, people would be pissed. It's really not any different.

It's usually an IPS (aka differences file) for a hack, not a whole game. So it's weirder in that sense.

Also weirder that on a site full of copies of games, they went for that one.
