I have recently watched the gameplay trailer for the fourth installment in one of PlayStation's most iconic series, God of War. I must say, I was truly impressed and that says something because I did have high expectations given my love and enjoyment of the previous titles. The new concept of Kratos having to be a more responsible and compassionate, even human-like individual adds a great deal of substance to the game and I like that. It draws away from the mindless hack 'n slash that it would otherwise be.
The visuals are obviously impressive and the gameplay looks super smooth and intuitive. Just judging from the little combat displayed and the enemies, the fighting aspect is probably going to be really awesome and that's what the game is known for after all.
I'm really excited for this game and I'm definitely interested in adding it to my library and I hardly ever buy expensive, next gen games when they come out. What are your opinions on the title? Do you agree with my thoughts on it?
It looks... interesting at least. It's definitely a departure from the previous God of Wars. It looks much more emotional and story driven instead of just dumb violence. The game has a lot of potential story wise and the developers can really take the franchise anywhere they want to as far as story goes. Third person over-the-shoulder combat will be a bit jarring playing as Kratos though.
Now I can appreciate a more nuanced Kratos may make for a more interesting and varied gameplay but there is nothing wrong with resorting to 'dumb violence' within a game. Just like an old favorite of mine, Hitman, you could either go for the 'Silent Assassin' rating or, if you were in the mood, just blow everyone away until you achieved your objective.
The concept for God of War 4 is taking the series in a new direction and, if successful, will lead the way to God of War 6/7/8/... I did not neglect to put God of War 5 in the list since, even if the game proves to be a great disappointment, there is no way that Santa Monica will not release GofW 5.
I saw a playthrough on You Tube and it looks realistic as the Ps4 console has better graphics and also controls which makes the game enjoyable to play and seeing Kratos with a young boy it was interesting, and as a dad Kratos will be tough on the boy as in previous games he was a tough guy and fierce. I thought who the old guy was when I first saw the video as this game must take place around 10 years later after God of War 3 or even more and it depends on the age of Kratos and how old the boy is and the mother could be a goddess or some other women Kratos was with. I think this game won't be out till 2019 or even 20 if the game is still in developement and will be interesting to see monsters that talk and some could probably aid Kratos in the quest as it looks like Kratos wants revenge against someone and using his son to do it.
