Okay, I'll be honest. I wasn't sure where to post this because there are two forums - PS and Xbox. I guess I prefer PS more, so you Xbox fans, try not to bite off my head, >_>
Anyway, now the question. I've been hearing a lot about GTA Online. The first time I heard DS mention it, I thought he was on crack. Yeah yeah, I know. Don't tell him I said that. It's my and your little secret, shhh!
Anyway, again, what is GTA Online? Is is GTA5's multiplayer?
Can I steal an online player's car and run it into a police station? Can I kill online players for no reason at all? This sounds interesting if it's possible to do those things. Or maybe... it's a separate game :o

GTA online, is GTA online. A separate game that the makers hope to become big on it's own. Not sure what you can do exactly but this is some people's accounts of what you do.
DS don't even have gta5 because he's weird so don't listen to him! HAHA
I play about 3hours a night online with gta.
Here's how it runs. You start online and must steal a car(choose a good one!). You go to a sprayshop and paint it, then insure it.
-while playing you can get killed from other players, you can have your car stolen(which you call insurance and for a fee it's replaced)
-It's open world. you do what you want play golf, tennis, arm wrestling, robbing stores all over the map, special missions, etc. The more money you make the more you can do.
-buy clothing, guns, modifications to your car an apartment or garage, etc.
-When you do go into missions, deathmatch, team deathmatch, racing, or one of the other 100 things it starts a server and invites everyone on the server you are in(and your friends). people can freely join if they want. (You will get texts on your in-game phone for invites as well)
What to do against other players:
-Haha, you can place a bounty on them then they are wanted. Their icon turns red then they have to run like hell because all of the other players on the server will hunt them for the reward
-you can freely attack other players and if they are stupid enough to not go to the atm machine and have a ton of money in their pockets you get to steal that.
-you can steal their mission halfway though. This gets me mad. Some missions will do a new server and others are in the open world. Yesterday I was on a mission where I had to find a particular car, repaint it, then bring it to a certain garage. Two idiots from a crew where waiting for me at the garage. I did all of that driving and they just killed me and put the car in.
Anyway, stuff like that. It's really cool, but it can frustrate a person to play it. The map is large enough to stay away from the trolls but it never pays to be curious and see what others are doing. They will shoot you down!
Thanks for the information @AidsorHIV. I can't wait for this game to get a PC version (I don't own a PS or XB). I don't really understand the point with the ATM machine, btw. But yeah, I would have waited for you to do the dirty stuff in the mission and just jack the car at the end like those 2 crew members,
I also want to crash a car into someone's golf course while they're playing. Do things like this happen?
I imagine the entire map is chaos. People banging music and running over newbies every second, Or do people just walk around like normal in the single player?
The atm machine thing is simple.
You have a bank account and pocket money. If you are running around and earning money it's all in your pocket which is at risk. If you get killed it'll be picked up. In order to keep your cash safe you have to visit ATM machines and deposit your cash in the bank. They are all over the city map.
You cannot dispute golfing games, tennis, etc. Those types of games end up removing the player from the server. It shows they are there but that's not live. There are some live stuff around but those are not.
Or do people just walk around like normal in the single player?
