Buying an more affordable car like Ford Fiesta, Chevy Spark or Mitsubishi Mirage with three cylinder gas engines can be a good way to save more money on a car purchase because a 3 Cylinder gas engine has a gas engine with less parts than a 4 or more cylinder gas engine. Some 3 cylinder gas cars like the Geo Metro, Mitsubishi Mirage, and Chevy Spark also use less gas than similar size and weight cars with bigger engines with 4 or more gas engine cylinders because 3 cylinder engines usually have fewer metal parts, so the engine weigh less than an engine with 4 or more cylinders and 3 cylinder engines have less moving parts like cylinders, valves, which causes more friction which can use up more gas when driving at 30 to 60 mph speed limits.
3 Cylinder engines may be cheaper to maintain because there are fewer parts like spark plugs and sensors which needs to be replace, and the engine may require less motor oil, and engine coolant fluid than an engine with more cylinders.
