I find it weird that tech blogs sometimes post non-tech related news related to politics, celebrity news, and different topics.

But, I can understand why tech blogs post non-tech related news.

I think the tech blogs which mainly post general posts related to politics, celebrities, and non-tech topic related news to earn more money from advertisers, and get more views from less tech savvy readers who maybe interested in tech, but more interested in News related to politics, celebrities, and non-tech topics. Some of the writers for the blog may be more familiar with non-tech news like current events because they previously worked for a Newspaper, and TV news.

most likely to get the traffic to their site, nothing like getting pageviews with important news.

So why do they apply for jobs at tech blogs if they are more familiar with pop culture and media news? They could just apply as writers for pop culture blogs and write about what they like or know more about...
I think there the higher earnings by writing for one of the larger tech blog which sadly attract less-tech savvy writers with money. They maybe offered the job from a friend, or the owner of the blog may think that it is a good idea to hire more attractive men and women to write, and make tech videos to boost pageviews, but it sometimes drives away the core tech savvy audience when there are less knowledgeable people writing about tech and current events on a tech blog like how Tech TV became G4TV where the hosts, and programs are less tech oriented than the hosts and programs from Tech TV before it became G4TV.

Hmm... I had no idea about this... Did they lose any of their traffic after they rebranded themselves as G4TV?
Yes, G4TV lost fans who are more interested in tech, and prefer watching more tech-oriented shows like The Screensavers instead of mainstream shows like Attack of the Show which are more about entertainment than tech.

It's irritating as heck, especially when the posts are poorly disguised political tracts that their audience obviously doesn't agree with.

I came into G4 in its early years and it was still pretty good till about half way till it became all about cops.

Strange, that G4 decided to put Cops on their network. I read that SyFy channel decided to put wrestling on their channel, and a lot of viewers did not like wrestling, and rather watch more Sci-fi shows.

Cops took over G4 (and killed it in my view) and wrestling is still on syfy. Odd I know, but thats what happened. I really wish AotS was still around.

Honestly, I would lose interest in such a website.
There is a reason why we use genre search from time to time. If it's bare minimum then it's good. Otherwise it's too much.

Its fine, people who are interested in tech are also interested in other topics as well, but to some degree. But tech "journalists" these days can barely pass as such.
