My favorite operating system is Ubuntu Linux 10.04.2 Lucid Lynx at the moment because it is Free to download ( http://releases.ubuntu.com/lucid/ ) and use on my PC, and it is a lot faster then Windows 7 on my slower computer when running FireFox, Google Chrome, Open Office, VLC Media Player, and Gimp. I also don't have to deal with the tons of Virus and Spyware programs which run on Windows since those virus and spyware programs are not compatible with Linux. The best part is I don't have to defrag my hard drive in Ubuntu like Windows for good performance.
Knoppix is awesome. It was one of the first Linux CD based operating systems I ever used. I still find it amazing that Knoppix has so much software in it, and it only uses about 700MB of space on a CD-R.
