What Makes ArcheAge So Good?

DS kept asking me that question, so I figured I'd create a thread about it. So here's what I like about the game.
  • Being a sandbox MMO, its basically a life simulator of some sort. Meaning that you can plant and grow your own crops, raise livestock, fish, mine ores, and so on. Pretty much everything you can do in games like Animal Crossing.
  • Quests are optional. Of course its easier to level by following the quests and playing it as a MMORPG. But you don't have to do that to level. You don't only ear exp from killing monsters, but also from doing all the activities mentioned above.
  • Crafting is complex. Like in other MMOs, you can craft items. Where ArcheAge differs is that you don't craft by buying items or running through a dungeon, and clicking a couple of buttons. You actually have to go out there and earn the materials. Grow trees for logs, raise sheep for wool, geese for feathers, etc.
  • Don't want to be a farmer? Become a thief. While there are protected areas to grow crops and raise livestock, these have limited space. And a lot of players will end up planting in the wild and in unprotected areas. And that's where thieves will strike, stealing your plants, or butchering your animals for materials and meat. Of course, ArcheAge is big enough to allow players to find areas that are hard to access, but these will eventually be found and looted.
  • Thieves are punished. Of course, the game would be broken if people could steal at will. So whenever a player steals, they leave behind footprints that other players can use to report them. Not to admins, as stealing is part of the game. Reporting however increases the crime points of the player, and upon reaching 50, they get a "Wanted" status. If killed with the wanted status, they end up in a trial. The jury will be composed of other members, and if proven guilty, the culprit will be sent to jail for a duration that ranges from 12 minutes to 5 hours.
  • You can actually become a pirate. If you break the law often enough and reach 3000 infamy points, you will be converted to the Pirate faction. NPCs from your nation will no longer be friendly to you, and you can only live on the pirate island. You will also be an enemy to the players in the other 2 factions.
  • You can try all the classes with a single character. ArcheAge doesn't limit you to a single class. You can use a combination of 3 of the 10 classes available, and change them at anytime. Meaning that you can use a combination like Sorcery/Archery/Defense, and change it to something like Sorcery/Occultism/Witchcraft if you feel like. In all, there are 120 possible combinations.
  • You can build a boat. If you manage to get all the materials needed (and it requires a lot) you can build yourself a boat that you can use to cross the ocean or just explore the seas. These boats also have weapons that you can use to fight sea creatures, or other players.
  • The two main factions speak different languages. So if you try to speak to a player from the other faction, it will only appear as gibberish to them, and vice versa. You can however find books and language teachers that will allow you to learn their language.
Well I figured I'd end the list here. The game also has a lot of other features that makes it great (gliders that allow you to fly for 3mins, submarines, etc), but the best way to find them out is by trying the game yourself :P

Adding a few screenshots I took in the game.

Just received and email with the launch date at 9/16. If anyone else was interested.
If you are still interested in playing this, I would like to add that the premium patron status can be purchased in-game for less than 200 gold currently. You can easily earn that amount by investing 2 hours of your time a day for 5 days.
