So does anyone here know of some general knowledge or guides of a proper Windows 10 set up? I know if you left everything default, you'll be filled with ads or have your bandwidth strained with MS's underhanded methods.
You will? I haven't seen any ads on my PC so far... I don't know about the bandwidth issue cause I have unlimited internet...if you left everything default, you'll be filled with ads or have your bandwidth strained with MS's underhanded methods.

Oh, I have that Candy Crush Soda Saga tile in my Start menu. I didn't know that was an ad. I thought it was just a default game, kind of like how Windows 7 came with Minesweeper. It doesn't really bother me. I made it a small tile and placed it at the bottom. What version of Windows 10 are you using?
I wonder if the sponsored tile ads in the Startmenu and Startscreen tablet user interface, and bundled apps like Candy Crush Saga just comes installed by default in the Home version of Windows 10, and not the Pro, Ultimate and Enterprise version of Windows 10 which is mainly used by professionals who work in an office, store, or school.

I installed Windows 10 with the recommended settings and besides the automatic lock screen wallpaper change, market and a couple of ads I haven't seen anything too malicious. I don't think you can get rid of their app market or apps like Edge when you install, I checked the custom settings and there wasn't anything to be seen about this.I've looked at some W10 which the start menu is full of game ads for xbox related games and such. Also you may want to check your windows update options, there is a p2p option active meaning that your PC is in a torrent network to allow others to get updates faster.

That being said, I think Windows 10 is miles better than Windows 8.1 in terms of performance and UI. The OS also seems really stable and except for automatic updates I haven't had a problem with it.
I will say this for W10, I like the search bar out front.
I dislike that Microsoft bundled stuff like OneNote, Groove Music, Xbox, Cortana, and other stuff which not everyone uses.
they are easy to remove with a right click or powershell commands.
