I find reviews for online services like web hosting, domain names, and car reviews less reliable at figuring out if something is good or not.

Web hosting and domain name registrar online reviews can not be very useful because some people have good experiences with companies like GoDaddy for many years, but other buyers may have very bad experiences where the web host or domain registrar made their website go offline or run slower because of a DDoS attack or broken web server, poor server maintenance, and lost their files needed to run a website.

Some web hosts may also not have the features that forum and blog owners need to run their website at a good speed. But, the web host is good enough for more basic website users who just plan on using their web host for hosting a HTML and CSS static website which does not need a good MySQL server, and web server with a faster CPU, more RAM, and more storage base. I think forum and blog owners will give a more basic and slower web host a very bad review, but a more basic website users will give their web host a good review.

I also feel online car reviews and recommendations are not as useful as other types of reviews like reviews for electronics and laptops because some of the reviewers maybe used to driving a luxury car like a BMW or Cadillac, so they give affordable slower less luxurious cars like the Mitsubishi Mirage a bad review because cheaper cars are slower, handle more poorly at high speed like when drag racing and turning quickly, have plastic parts like the steering wheel and plastic hubcaps compared to their own car which has better parts, look nicer, run faster, and handle better.

There are also some online reviewers who mainly care about a few things like how fast the car can move, look good, and not make a lot of noise, and is from a luxury brand. But, the reviewer may still give a poor quality car a good review because the car look nice and is fast. But, the car they are reviewing uses a lot of gas compared to other cars, has a rough ride, and poor braking, and many reliability problems posted online by users who complain about the car on car forums, social networks, and blogs.

Sometimes the reviewers and commenters recommendations for better alternative similarly priced cars for the car the blog is reviewing are worse than the reviewed car because the car they are recommending uses more gas, have a shorter warranty, bad technical support from the car brand when dealing with a recall or defective car, have a lot of recalls, and many complaints posted on car forums because of known reliability problems from some unhappy owners who actual own and drive the recommended cars for many months, and some of them had their car caught on fire like some older Hyundai and Kia car models, break down randomly while driving at the speed limit, rusting metal parts, and have oil leaks.

Anything that seems to unrealistic, like a first comment that raves the hell out of an item. Sounds to me like a paid review.

Well, eBay reviews.

I won't go for any supplier who doesn't have feedback from at least 100 members. Too many times, I didn't receive goods and I forgot about the eBay protection as I never

received any mail from them... :sigh:

I think certain brands like Apple products sometimes have overly positive reviews from huge fans who are not paid to post many great reviews. I think some expensive product reviews like clothing from a expensive brand may have positive reviews even when there are other more affordable product which are more reliable, cost less, run better, and have more features.

I find positive reviews suspicious and I find bad/hate/anger reviews realistic, more realistic if they posted a real pic of their purchased items. :p

I prefer videos of a product reviewers making negative comments on a product since pics can be more easily edited to make it look that their screen is cracked, has poor viewing angles, or poor quality color and brightness on the screen.
