How long did the longest antivirus scan you've ever done on your PC take? What antivirus (or security suite) did you use to perform this scan?

I was using windows defender and it taken me at lease 4 or so hours to scan my external harddrive. And that was on USB3. Not sure about my C: drive though.

I was using Malware Bytes on my laptop a few years ago and it took about 6 hours even though I didn't really have a lot of stuff on my computer.

I think Avira once took overnight to scan all my files on a older desktop pc since it also scans inside zip files.

Either your laptop is weak in power or you somehow had that running in a low resource scan.

For me on bullguard AV, the longest was about an hour and a half.

There is a chance that Windows or the Antivirus scanner is not managing the RAM, and CPU power well, and forces his laptop to use a low percentage of the performance of the CPU, RAM , and hard drive speed.

A lot of laptops also are set to power saving mode in the Power Plan setting when unplugged from the wall's power or charging a laptop, so the laptop uses less battery power by slowing down the CPU and RAM.

Laptops also slow down the CPU, and RAM when it is overheating to prevent damage to the internal parts.
