I can't understand how such a game can be so famous, can someone pls explain to me why people love it?

Because it is a simulation game like The Sims that plays in real-time. When I say "real-time" i mean as in the same date, clock, season, day / night as in real life. So if it is Christmas morning and you are opening presents at 10 AM where you live, you can be doing the same - or at least a Christmas event - in the game. You can design your own clothing as well as collect lots of different styles by purchasing them from the shops. Fishing, insect collecting with a bug net, digging up hidden objects, trading / buying / selling of furniture... the list goes on. The series is great because even if you only wish to buy one of them ever - you get literally YEARS worth of gameplay in each one. If you wish to finish filling your museum you will have to catch bugs and fish that only appear at certain times of the day or night in certain areas during certain seasons, for example. You can even further the experience via local or online co-op by having your friends come over to your town.

One of the reasons I feel the game sells even better is it is something parents can do with their children that both will enjoy and that has VERY little violence (only hitting NPCs with nets and stuff) as well as nothing obscene whatsoever in it. It also has a cuteness factor in some of the NPC characters as they are arguably adorable animals that wander around like humans on two feet and with two hands.

The game has a LOT to offer and it took me over an hour to describe MOST of it to another forum member yesterday in two PMs, so I am not going to bother making an extremely long post here.

The first Animal Crossing, whenever it was your birthday, Nintendo (in game) would send you a NES console with a FULL rom in it! So if you wanted to take a break from collecting things or fishing, you could play the full versions of ExciteBike, Super Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, Balloon Fight, Zelda, Punch Out, and more! This, however, has been done away with since the DS version (Wild World) most likely due to Nintendo re-marketing the games via the Virtual Console on the Wii, 3DS and now Wii U.

Could you forward me those PMs? I'd like to know more.

Nah, I was just trying to be funny. I love lmgtfy.com :3 It is a PC techie's way of being sarcastically humorous through a web page lol My mentor / trainer used it on me all the time when I was learning how to be a PC Tech. But seriously, if you want to know so much about the game you should just google it. I see far too many people on here who ask for 100% information on games and then I have to say "why don't you just google it?"

I googled it, and I still can't understand what's the hype with a game that just feels like...boring. Googling never works for me, y'know, I mean even when I googled Legend of Zelda for the first time, I couldn't get how getting a bottle was a big achievement! A bottle!! Then, I played OoT 3D and it finally clicked.

Trying a game is always best. I recently picked up Kid Icarus: Uprising and then got rid of it just as quick. I don't see the hype in that game either, so I get your point.

Animal Crossing is a game mainly for people who like to collect things and / or customize things. It is for fans of games like The Sims. Animal Crossing games are very relaxed and you play them at your own pace so they are good to pick up while on break at work or things like that. For me, it is something I do when I wake up in the morning as my brain is still groggy because I don't have to focus on ten thousand objects trying to kill me that I need to dodge like most of my other games lol

Wait, you DIDN'T like Kid Icarus??? Hell, It's one of my favourite games! What put you off???

The storyline is exactly the same as the original save for Dark Pit being tossed in so it didn't leave me with a reason to keep playing, for starters. Controls are awkward no matter how I set them. And it is just a 3rd person rail shooter - which I am not particularly fond of. Camera angles and controls for them are horrendous as well. The "jokes" in the game were bland and seemed forced and most of which were blatant pushes of the graphics so the developers could pat themselves on the back as if changing a sprite from the 80s to a CG version nowadays was a great big feat and accomplishment.
