While there are plenty of internet-based chat applications, WhatsApp is popular because it’s cross-platform, easy to use, and tied to a phone number, making it easy to find contacts that are already in your phone’s contact list.

By the end of 2016, WhatsApp will end support for:

BlackBerry OS
Android 2.2 and older
Windows Phone 7.1
Nokia S40
Nokia Symbian S60.

The app will continue to work on recent versions of iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile. Those operating systems are on the vast majority of the world’s smartphones.

I wonder if the Google Android version of WhatsApp works well on Blackberry 10 built-in Google Android app emulator where users can install Google Play App store in Blackberry 10.

BB users can use the pre-installed Amazon Android App store, which is a default app in Blackberry 10, and install WhatsApp from Amazon's App store.

Isn't most of that stuff on the list outdated?

Wait, are we talking about the new Blackberry OS, the BB OS 10.3 ? Or the old Blackberry?

WhatsApp will discontinue all Blackberry OS Apps by the end of 2016 according to the article. I read on another blog that Blackberry users are signing a petition at https://www.change.org/p/support-whatsapp-com-no-end-support-for-whatsapp-on-blackberry-10 and http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/no-end-of-support-for-whatsapp-on-blackberry-10 for WhatsApp to keep making its app available on Blackberry 10 OS.

I am so signing that petition. I think it is unfair to discontinue it for Blackberry OS 10, as long as devices such as the Blackberry Z30 and Z10 are still in stores.
