Of course, steam has a lot of discounts and sales, but sites like greenmangaming, humblestore, gog, g4a, etc also have pretty good deals from time to time. But where do you guys find the best deals for games?
I buy used, most of the time.
If new, I always use Amazon as I participate in GPT sites that reward me in Amazon Gift Cards, so that's how I work that but other wise when I buy used, I go to this little local shop we have down here in my boondock country southern town that does buy/sell/trade on games and DVDs. Often they have specials on certain days and I can also trade things in for store credit.
Most of my game purchases are on Steam, just because of the ease of access and the fact that they have just about everything, but I also like G4A, Amazon and Kinguin to find some good deals on games. You just have to know when these sites are running sales and you can find some really great deals. Amazon lately has come through for me as I've probably bought my last 3 games from there.
I definitely prefer Steam, as I want my games to update accordingly when the updates are made available. Unfortunately, it seems outlets often prefer their members to download their own game downloaders, eg: Direct2Drive, Origin, UPlay, etc. So it can get pretty annoying. I wish there was one unified downloader for all outlets.
I also use GOG, Greenman Gaming, GamersGate, Humble Bundle and Bundle Stars. I used to buy from Direct2Drive, but their prices are not competitive at all.
on Reddit's gamedeals. Seriously this is one of the best place to look for not only major game deals for almost all other sites but because people typically will post mistake deals like a $60 game being $2 or something silly like that. Outside of that another site I like to check for a good deal is Nuuvem, it's a spanish site that has steam keys for US and they have prices for new games, that are around 65% off or more.
Well as everyone may know I always have good deals on G2A as it's one of the most trusted network for buying and selling serial keys for games. I've really bought plenty of keys there and I've never really experienced any particular problem during the process and with the kye afterwards the purchase. What I must say is also that you should also enable the G2A shield for avoiding trucks and scams.
I know steam has a lot of good sales, but I also use Greenmangaming. When I am looking for deals on a game, I normally just google the game that I am trying to get a discount to see if there is any possibilities of some kind of discount.
humblebundle.com
flyingbundle.com
indiegala.com
indieroyale.com (I don't use this anymore after the scandal of the devs not getting paid. doesn't seem right to me)
bundlestars.com
Of course steam and gog.com also have big sales.
Origin offers free (usually older) games each month
And IGN also has free games each month.
For physical copies of games, amazon, ebay, and gamefly have large sales
The best deals I find are on Steam, always! Steam sales are my best friend in gaming; I've saved so much money from those sales. It is just a pity that I missed out on the summer sale, because there were so many amazing deals there.
Humble bundles are great too, from what I've heard, but I haven't actually bought anything from there.
For physical games though, I've found some pretty good deals on Amazon. There are also some awesome deals on used games sometimes, and as long as the games are still in good condition I don't mind buying used. I've gotten some $60 games before, bought used for $10 a piece, which was pretty great.
Mostly Steam and Humble Bundle. Origin has a few good deals sometimes (they did make BF3 free for a while), but I don't choose them much because they don't have that many games anyway. GOG has some good deals sometimes. I got both The Witcher 1&2 for $7 from them.
