Most public computers use Windows XP in my experience. All the schools I been to uses XP. Banks, libraries, and other places in my city also usually use Windows XP as their computer operating system.

I never seen any computers at the bank, library, school, or other big place use Windows 7 or Vista. I just see XP.

Most of the time XP, but before I left high school computers were being upgraded to Vista.

I also seen some very old computers which use Windows 2000 and a few Applee Mac computers for Mac specific programs like Final Cut Pro, Garage band, and other Mac made software, and for people who are too used to Mac for Windows.

Learning to use XP can be more important then 7 since a large percentage of companies still use XP instead of 7 since the license cost for Windows 7 is 100 dollars or more depending on the version, and not all companies want to spend the money buying new 7 computers, and rather just stick with XP. A lot of older software and hardware like printers which companies use also don't works with Windows 7, but work fine in XP.

A lot of schools also don't have the money or man power to upgrade all computers to 7, and replacing every XP PC to 7 PC will be very expensive, and time intensive.
