Out of all the games, which do you think was closest to what a 'great' Zelda game should be?

I would say Wind Waker. That game was huge! Its not just the sailing aspect, but traveling to different locations. It made it seem truly epic that a young boy was traveling the big vast sea. Makes you feel very small. The story was great too because its rare that a Zelda game's story connects, and this one was blunt. The fighting was at its peak as well with parry moves. Wind Waker is an amazing game, really made the franchise stand out.

Servbot got it.

I put Majora's Mask. I know OoT and MM are different games, but I played them both so much that they blend together in my mind.

Basically I say that they had it right with OoT and MM. They did good up until Wind Waker, where I believe, they messed up terribly, but redeemed theirselves with TP. SS was ok and it does kind of link the story together, but I don't think it was as good as OoT and MM though.

I have to disagree with you YLA, Wind Waker was an amazing game. There was so much to explore with the huge world connected by that ocean. I can say that the sailing wasn't the most fun, but combat and dungeons were amazing in the game.

none of these! links awakining! a standalone story nothing to do with the triforce, ganon or any of the things used over and over =3

Wind Waker had a lot of side quest an exploration just as a true Zelda game should have. It was hard to get bored with all the stuff to do. I remember I really liked how you could board enemy ships.

I like Majoras Mask the best due to its deep story and the personality of its characters, side quests/mini dungeons really make it flow easier, with 4 main stories is awesome. Even though i didn't really like the time element to it, I dont think it would be the same without it.

Voted Twilight Princess. (So bite me) Nostalgia hit hard. A mix of Link to the past, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask -esk elements/referances all in one game... Don't think I could ask for much more.
