Who's left to make a comeback in the Mario series?

We asked for the Koopalings, and they returned for good in New Super Mario Bros Wii.

Boom Boom returned in Super Mario 3D Land

Reznor returns in New Super Mario Bros 2...

And lots of classic power ups return, to the point only the Hammer Suit, Cape and Kuribo's Shoe are left to make a reappearance.

So who's the next major character/enemy to make a comeback? Vote now!

I doubt Geno's going to return. He's owned by Square, unless they decide to give him over to Nintendo at some point.

I'll have to say some of the SM64 bosses such as Eyerok and Big Bully are are more likely to return. As well as Goomboss and Chief Chilly from the remake. Figuring that they brought back Whomp King not too long ago, and Big Bob-omb's already famous amongst all of them.

The only enemy I can really think of is Wart and he came from a dream Mario had so the likelyhood of him returning are very slim.

The Smithy Gang doesn't seem likely either unless every enemy from every Mario rpg sereis, including Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario, Mario and Luigi Super Star Saga, Parterner's in Time, and Bowsers Inside Story, which I haven't played yet so I don't know who the boss of that is. However a game like that is unlikely.

So as many characters that are left, which is quite a few, seem very unlikely of coming back in another Mario game.

Maybe Wart. He played a pretty major roll in SMB 2, so maybe he'll come back someday.

What about in super mario land 2?

^That was his first ever appearance, he didn't really have a personality then. He was also a villain of sorts in Wario's Woods, Mario and Wario and Dr Mario 64, but by and large he's never really been portrayed as a Bowser like evil overlord.

The Army Hammer Bro. would be best as a boss of some sort. I never played Super Princess Peach but the way he was battled was actually pretty good, with all those Hammer Bros. swarming at you.

I totally forgot about them. They were my favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles parody in a video game. I don't see how they could fit into another Mario game, but I'm sure they could find a way.

How about using all the rpg villains as bosses again instead of the stupid koopalings and bowser jr repeats

I'd say there's a slim-to-none chance any of those characters return. None of them have any sort of relevance comparable to those you listed, (save for Wart, but then there's the whole "re-skin of Doki Doki Panic" thing), and the RPG characters I think are never returning.

However, if given the pick, sign me up for anybody returning from one of the RPG series in some sort of sequel. IE, Smithy/Geno in SMRPG2, anyone in PM, and maybe the Bean characters for M&L?
