Why did you choose a PC over a console?

Answer only if you had a choice, obviously. Were there any specifical features that made you not choose a console for playing games?
I personally think that a PC is much more useful than a console. You can also program, edit videos, a lot of school stuff and the list can continue. I don't think it's worth it investing in a console, even though it may hold up for a lot of years to come.

I personally don't see the need to choose between the two. I like PC gaming because of the ability to mod games and play games on the best settings and I would own a PC for other things already including work. I guess if you are a kid and don't have your own income then you might have to choose one or the other. Personally I like both. I also like console gaming because of exclusives although PC are able to emulate most consoles so that may not be a concern if you don't mind emulation. I play more on my PC lately than my consoles or handhelds, but there are some exclusives that make owning a console worth it to me. I have plans to buy a wiiu and vita soon as well as a ps4 for games they announced at e3

I had chosen the PC simply for the fact that the quality of the graphics is far better compared to the one of a console. Moreover on the PC I can also a lot of other stuff apart from gaming while of course a console is dedicated only for the exclusive gaming. Despite the price that obviously are really different I am still convinced of my chosen of the PC over the console.

I chose it because PC has way better graphics. PC also has the keyboard and mouse which in my opinion is much superior to a console controller. Also the ability to mod my games. Also I get a full functioning PC out of it, and not just something to play games on. Finally the games are much cheaper than they are on consoles.

Most of my games are on PC.

Ease of modding.

A lot more indie games on PC than on consoles.

Big sales on pc games very often.

Quite a few things. First of all, for the majority of games, nothing beats a keyboard and mouse. Sure some games are great (even better) with a controller but there aren't many genres that are like that. And I can always just plug a controller into my pc if I want to. (yeah yeah I can do that with the mouse and new consoles too. Try doing that 15 years ago when I started gaming)

Then there is the point for cheap/free games, also a lot of indie games too. You are going to be left out of a lot of creative games if you only stick to companies that have millions of dollars to produce a single game.

And last but not the least, I need a PC anyway. I do not need a tv or a console for anything else so getting both just to play games (plus paying a high price for every game I want to try) would get ridiculously expensive compared to using a pc.

When I was younger, I played mostly on consoles but also a few PC games. A lot of my friends also used consoles which added to the online gameplay value.  As I learned more about PC gaming I made the switch and could not be happier.  I can no longer play with those friends who still use consoles but that's okay.  I like how steam keeps track of everything for me, the better graphics, the ability to do just about anything on a PC, and the upgradability for future use.

I chose PC or console because all my games can come with me. I can bring my laptop to class and play games on it when I have free times. It is really handy to have something to always occupy my time.

Haha I actually have a personal reason, I didn't want my parents to know when I was gaming. My consoles are out on the family TV, while my PC is in my room. I'm actually an honor's student, but my parents still wanted me to study for a certain amount of time, so I got used to playing games on my comp and tabbing out whenever they check on me. Nowadays it's reasons that have been listed: Graphics, ease of modding (I freaking love modding), and I like the mouse and keyboard setup.

I chose a PC mainly because I wanted to do other things besides gaming on the device. Another big factor in my decision was the fact that I was pretty much used to playing FPS games with a mouse and keyboard. I've played some Call of Duty with a controller and I couldn't really get into it. I would however buy a console for the exclusive games, if I had that money lying around.

I needed a PC. Their functionality makes them much more worth buying. That's why I bought mine anyway. If you had the choice however, I'm not sure what I'd choose. More of my friends play console and I like being able to play on a bigger screen and not have to build my gaming rig to save money. I have a console and a PC now, but if it was between having a console or a good PC I'd probably choose the former, I like the Ps4 and don't own one.

I choose PC. I mainly have PC games. I have a few consoles but I rarely touch them. There seems to be a lot more choices with PC, better graphics and you can customize a PC more than you can a console. Also you are able to run emulators for some games that are on consoles.

PC because the graphics are better, I like the mechanics of playing on PC more, the online interaction is a lot better. For the most part too, I like playing online games more like LoL, Hearthstone, WoW and CoD.

I also spent a lot of money on upgrading my computer, so there really isn't much left-over money to be putting into a console. Just a much better investment as its great for a gaming experience and its something that helps me in my work too.

Thankfully, my brother bought a PS4, so I still get great console gameplay anyway!

1. I'm used to the PC and a lot of the games I play are unplayable for me with controllers, namely FPS games.
2. I see no reason to buy a console if I'm comfortable with my PC and the games I play on it. Why not keep all my things at one place instead of inconveniencing myself with a console I have no need for.
3. Upgradability. My current PC still has the upgradability to last 10 more years in the future and all I'd have to do is replace a few parts at a time and sell my old parts. Much, MUCH more affordable than buying a new console every time.

Besides the overall usefulness of a PC compared to a console, looking at it purely from a gaming aspect, the computer has a lot more games it also has the ability to mod games as well as it has the largest selection of scifi and simulation games I think, which is one of my favorite type of genres so hands down it would only be PC for me. If I had to choose between them anyway. The consoles are limited in too many ways for it to ever compare to the PC in my opinion.
