Why do people find intelligent characters more interesting in anime?

Are you the same as well? Do you like smart anime characters a lot?

I feel people find intelligent characters more interesting because they fantasize about being an intelligent anime character or friends with intelligent anime character while they are watching anime.

I mainly just watch anime, and sometimes end up liking the less intelligent characters.
