Why do people like N so much?

You know, the Team Plasma 'villain' from Black and White and Black and White 2?

I mean, he's more sympathetic than most villains (not hard given how horrible the likes of Cyrus and Ghetsis are), but he's still a villain, his goals are still outright wrong in respect to how the setting works and as much as I hate to say this, the concept of the character is hardly that original.

So why is he popular with the fandom?

Becuase he's sympathetic (both in and of himself, and because he is overshadowed by the massive bastard that is Ghetsis). He has a touching back-story, and is genuinely well-intentioned; he might have done a lot wrong, but he only did that because Ghetsis was manipulating him since he was a small child (possibly even since birth). So what if he's a 'villain'? Does tarring someone with the villain brush mean that you automatically have to hate them?
His whole life, he was devoid of any positive human interaction - he was isolated in his room and surrounded by pokemon who had all be mistreated by their trainers, so that he'd grow up thinking all humans were complete bastards. All this suffering and mistreatment, all to further his father's goals. How can you not be moved by that? Are you completely heartless?
And you can see from various glimpses into his life that he is a genuinely good and kind person. But he was used and manipulated. He thought, misguidedly, that what he was doing was right. He was naive and innocent, way too innocent. As Concordia says, "there is nothing more beautiful and terrifying than innocence."

Also, from the point of view of the male fandom he is cool, and from the point of view of the female fandom he is cute.

I don't know to be honest. I mean I don't have a problem with him as a villian. Though as for his popularity... it could be a number of reasons. Some people think he's just cool. Uh... that's all I got for reasoning.

N was doing what he was told the "right" thing to do by Ghetsis, and it turns out N is NOT a villain because Ghetsis use him so he could take over the world with no one to stop him because everyone will be with out pokemon to stop him. Heck N was trick by Ghetsis when N was a boy so he was grown on the idea of people shouldn't have pokemon and use them for battles. So in the end N was just trying to do what was right and this is why I think people like N as they can forgiven what N did, well this is just base on my views of N…

Yeah, but it was still wrong to do it. He IS a villian though because in B2/W2 he
is still trying to separate people in Pokemon. Even if he knows what he's doing is wrong, he's still as much of a villian as Ghetsis, even if it is a little less servere.

Oh, I didn't know about the details to Black 2 and White 2...

He has a great personality and an awesome battle theme, I guess.

He was brainwashed. Legally, he's not responsible for his actions.

I'm pretty sure another reason why peiple like N is because unlike any other villan, He has obtained a legendary and at the end, He left unova (or at least went to an unexplorable place in it) and thought over all his actions and in black and white 2 when he figured out the true intention of getsis two years ago he faces him no and above all, he, for some reason that's not yet known, is able to understand pokemon unlike no other when in the end when you first battled him he heard your starter's "voice" and he said that when you fought him it said it liked you and when you awaken the other legendary he says that it's saying that it wants to battle you. I think there are more reasons but I only remeber the five days before I defested getsis in march of last year so I may have gotten details wrong.

I don't get the meaning of this post.

And truth be told, I played White in Japanese and I thought N was cool, i.e. I had no idea what the dickens he was on about, but damn I wish I was him.

EDIT:

Pic related, it's Cyrus:

Going through my own recollections of why I thought N was a better villain than most of the others, I came up with one solid reason. He cares. He comes to you early on and tells you he's the head of Team Plasma. He explains what his goals are and tells you why he's convinced he's doing the right thing. He provides his own personal experiences and creates a backstory that further helps clarify his purpose. His personality is, in his own way, kind, so even though he's misguided and wrong, he's actually relatable to a lot of people in one way or another. In B/W2 he's still after the goal even after he's convinced it's wrong, meaning something happened to him over the past five years that re-changed his mind.

I bet he ended up seeing team glactic or something like that and saw their mischeif. That could make end want to do that again.

He was brainwashed from when he was a child to think that right was wrong and wrong was right in the case of people and Pokemon being together so really it wasn't his fault. I agree with kunino-sagiri do you not have a heart?
