Scribblenauts developer 5th Cell has revealed that Nintendo characters won't appear in the 3DS version of Scribblenauts Unlimited due to “timing.”
Yesterday, WB announced that Scribblenauts Unlimited will contain characters from Mario and Zelda but that they’ll be exclusive to the Wii U version. We asked 5th Cell’s Jeremiah Slaczka why Scribblenauts Unlimited on 3DS won’t receive the same treatment.
“Timing,” Slaczka told IGN. “The 3DS version was already finished and moving into manufacturing (cartridges take longer to produce) by the time the deal was signed with WB & Nintendo.” After the deal was signed, Slaczka adds that “only the Wii U and PC [versions] remained and obviously Nintendo would only want their IP on their platform.”
