The NPD Group released February videogame sales figures on Thursday and, somewhat predictably, Nintendo's systems again stole the show. On top of that, sales of key Nintendo titles like Wii Fit proves that when it comes to shelf life, nobody can touch the company's software.

Wii sold 753,000 units for the month to take the number-one spot. DS grabbed number-two with 588,000 units sold. Xbox 360 pulled in another 391,000 gamers. PS3 another 276,000. PSP 199,000 and PS2 131,000.

The top-selling game for the month was Wii Fit with a whopping 644,000 units sold, according to NPD. For the record, Nintendo's exercise program shipped in America last May -- nearly a year ago. With February totals considered, accumulative U.S. sales of Wii Fit are now higher than those for Grand Theft Auto 4 and Halo 3 on Xbox 360. Don't forget -- Wii Fit costs $89.99, too. Whether you appreciate the software or not, it's hard to deny the success of Nintendo's strategy.

Capcom's Street Fighter IV grabbed the second and third selling spots on Xbox 360 and PS3 respectively with 446,000 and 403,000 sold. In fourth, Wii Play, with another 386,000 sold. The title and its controller pack-in has sold more than 10 million copies in America. Killzone 2 managed to suck in 323,000 players for the fifth spot. Mario Kart took sixth with 263,000 sold. Call of Duty: World at War for 360 fragged 193,000 players for seventh. The eighth top-seller went to Mario Kart DS with 145,000 units. Ninth to New Super Mario Bros. with 144,000 in sales. And Guitar Hero: World Tour for Wii rounded out the top 10 with 136,000 in additional units sold.

1. WHO STILL BUYS PS2's?!?!?!?! 2. PS3 is doing good, if not better. 3. Wii is still as fucking popular as ever... And it sold most in America. In Japan the other consoles sell more (besides the PS3...). In Europe the Wii falls behind PS3. Surprisingly the U.S. made more sales of the PS3 than Japan. And why the fuck am I going off topic?!

I don't know, but if my PS2 went out right now I would go out and buy my self a new one!

As for the Wii, it will be around a long time.

I know the Wii will, but if your PS2 breaks, why not just upgrade.

because the upgrade don't have backwards capability and I know I have invested more then 2500 dollars into my PS2 and thats too much to give up for a system that has about 2-6 games I want.

How did the PS2 not top the Wii...

For the 360 RRoD can discourage buyers and with Sony what the hell were they expecting releasing a $400 console at the minimum. These two I can understand but the PS2's greatness...

A lot of people still have functional PS2, so why should people need two non-brocken PS2.

The Wii is new and many people still don't own it. I think the wii is a good console for people who previously owned a PS2, GC, Xbox, but is not ready to shell out as much cash for a PS3 or Xbox360 , and don't own a HDTV.

If you don't have a HDTV with 1080P resolution or atleast 720P then you are not going to see the 1080P HD Graphics.

The Wii only can go up to 480P which lower end LCD Resolution can display, so it iw a good console for people who don't own a a 1080P or 720P TV.

I'm referring to its first release. Everyone I know has a PS2 console. *reads first four words* oh this Feburary. Nevermind now I agree.

But you are aware of the component cable made for the Wii that doubles the resolution for those with LCD/HDTV's, correct?

Lol.
I thought this topic title said Will DS Destroy Februrary
and I'm like WHUT?!

Danggg.
Well this recession really isn't effecting the Video Game World.

I am aware of those component cables that makes the Wii resolution better, but it is still 480P which is EDTV (Enhance Definition )and not 720P or 1080P which is (High Definition) like PS3 or Xbox 360.

But, I think that you have to purchase the Wii component cable seperately, so most people just stick to the RCA cables which are the Red, yellow white cables which are comonly use for VCR, low-end dvd players.
