I don't think many have heard of this promotion, the Wii U Deluxe Digital Promotion allows you to receive 10% back of every purchase that you make in the Nintendo eShop, you receive your cash back in the form of points which can later be redeemed for $5 Nintendo eShop Cards at this site:

If you buy a $59.99 game you will receive 599 points, and you only need 500 points to redeem a $5 Nintendo eShop Card. All you have to do is sign in with your Nintendo Network account and you will be able to see all of your purchases and your points balance.

Hurry up because this promotion will end on December 2014!

NOTE: Nintendo will even give you points for the free game that you receive with Mario Kart 8, the eShop still counts that as a purchase. This applies to free games received from Club Nintendo too!

Nintendo doesn't do a good job advertising it but yeah, I've heard about it. Sad to see it ending on December 2014 when a bucket-load of good WiiU games are coming out in 2015 tho :/

Club Nintendo Wii U games also score you points so that helps too (3DS game purchases -> Points -> Wii U Club Nintendo games -> Free $5 Code).
