Nintendo's struggling console topped both the PS3 and PS4 in sales for the last week, spanning May 19 through May 25.

For the week, just 7,387 PS4s were sold, while 7,383 PS3s were sold. Comparatively, the Wii U sold 8,858 consoles which, while it is a slight increase from previous weeks, still isn't too impressive.

I bet Mario Kart 8 is the reason for the Wii U to sell better in Japan compared to the PS4 and PS3 in the week of May 19-25. Wii U selling so well in Japan this week proves that console makers don't really need to sell a super powerful console with a lot of features to get a lot of console sales. They just need to release many good games with good gameplay, and a good controller which is easy to use to play games.

When Super Mario Smash Bros is released for the Wii U, I bet the Wii U will sell over 10000 consoles a week for many weeks in Japan.

I'm surprise to see the PS4 and PS3 selling almost the same number of consoles where the PS4 is selling 4 more consoles than the PS3 at 7387 consoles compared to the PS3 7383 consoles which sells 4 less consoles than the PS4.

Amazing what a karting game does, I wonder how well smash bros will do for the console.

Another reason for the Wii U outselling the PS3, and PS4 is that the sales of the PS4 and PS3 are cooling off where most people in Japan who want a PS4 got one, or they are waiting for a Final Fantasy game, or Kingdom Hearts 3 to be release before getting the PS4.
