Are you a frequent Nintendo importer who can't figure out what to do with all those Club Nintendo points you've earned over the years? Previously, you couldn't get your hands on the service's array of bonus items without a Japanese address to have them shipped to. That could be changing.
Today, Nintendo Japan released a new type of Club Nintendo bonus: a WiiWare game! Those with Japanese Club Nintendo accounts can now trade in 50 points for an original WiiWare title, Ultrahand on Wii.
Ultrahand on Wii is based around Nintendo's Ultrahand, an extending arm toy created by Gunpei Yokoi and released back in 1966. Using the Wiimote and nunchuck as the Ultrahand's levers, you reach out to grab pieces of meat from a barbecue grill. Grab the meat at just the right time, and you can build up combos. Drop the meat, or let a piece of meat burn, and the game ends.
The barbecue setting appears to be the sole stage for the game, but it looks like there's plenty of replay value thanks to the score attack possibilities. Nintendo has also included a two player combat mode, where players can grab the meat off each others' grill, stealing points in the process.
Nintendo has offered exclusive Club Nintendo games before. But this is the first time we've seen a downloadable WiiWare game offered through the service. 50 points makes Ultrahand on Wii just about the cheapest Club Nintendo gift around, so those with points laying around may want to make the download.
The Club Nintendo site now has a special screen displaying the redemption codes for digital presents like Ultrahand on Wii. Perhaps we'll be seeing more presents of this form in the future.
