Yes, when game consoles are smaller, or people suggest consoles come with built-in batteries for gaming where power is not easily available like camping, or to play your console on other countries with different sized and shaped power plug sockets which don't work with US Power plugs.

A Built-in battery is also useful for playing your games during a power outage with a powered TV, or to save your game, and not lose your game save during a power outage.

.... i wish the do that in the new tiny ps3

It will either take a massive battery or many, but I like the idea of a back up power source.

My power keeps going out today, and I am losing data, constantly. I want it to keep staying on!

Consoles can use batteries from High-End Gaming Laptops which also use a lot of power because it have to power the speakers, LCD screen, keyboard, touchpad, and tons of other parts on a modern gaming laptop.

The PS3 Slim only uses about 96.24 Watts when playing games according to Power Test done by Cnet at http://news.cnet.com...10318727-1.html , so it uses less power then a 100 Watt lightbulb, I think those Backup batteries for PC or larger sized laptop batteries can power the PS3 for a few hours depending on the size.

I think most gamers will be satisfied if there is a small battery like those small batteries on electric cordless drills and hand saws which can keep the console running for a for a few minutes to an hour, so the user can properly save, finish a boss, and save, and turn off their console properly before the battery runs out of power.

I thought you can use the AC power adapter to charge while you play on hand helds like how laptops let you charge while you use it.

You can, but it's in the way usually, so I don;t charge and play unless I have to.
