Will Indie/Independent games by smaller video games be more popular in 2013

Yes, I think indie games might be more popular in 2013 because the Ouya game console is going to be release in 2013, and most likely, a lot of indie game makers will release the game on Ouya because it is cheaper and easier to have their games included in Ouya's game store.

Steam Box game console is also is coming out in 2013, and Steam also sell Indie Games on its Steam service, so people who buy the Steam Box may also buy Indie Games.

Plus, there are a lot of indie games which are available on Apple iOS App store, Google Play, PC, Linux, Xbox, PS3, and other systems.

There may be a few Indie Games like Minecraft which become super popular, and even more popular then older mainstream games like Need For Speed, Test Drive Unlimited, etc because some mainstream games failed to innovate, and is just a re-make of an older game, but with better graphics, and new levels.

I agree, people like rehashes like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Halo, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto which have similar plots and characters, and it gives a chance to new players to experience features from older games without playing them.

But, I watch on TV some game reviewers saying Gran Tourismo series for the PS3 have became less fun because it is too technical like previous Gran Tourismo for the PS2 and PSX unlike Forza, Burnout, and Split Second which are more arcade-like rather then realistic simulation of real car racing.

I read that Minecraft which is made by Mojang which is an Indie Game Developer made 240 million dollars in 2012 from game sales.

I think if they include Minecraft toys, lego sets, and T-shirts it would be even more then 240 million from licensing Minecraft name and design for physical objects like how Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Batman makes a lot of money from branded clothing, toys, and party supplies.
