Will Microsoft drop out the console race soon?

From what I hear they originally got involved to stop Sony and their Playstation consoles replacing PCs or something similar, so do you think they'll drop out if Sony goes third party?

Or will they just use the chance to sell more Xbox consoles and keep the brand going now that a major competitor is gone?
