I'm not sure if casual gamers will still buy as many consoles in the future since there are already a lot of alternatives to dedicated game consoles like Google Smart TV, Onlive, Gaikai, Google Android powered devices like Tablets, Smartphones, iOS devices like ipod Touch, iPhone, iPad, medium priced 600-800 dollar PCs/Laptop, and set top boxes like Roku which already have a huge library of games for casual gamers who rarely play games to play on the days they play games.

Most likely no. Many casual gamers are casual because it's quick to whip out their phone when they have free time, not because they want to play a RPG or something.

I agree, I rarely meet casual gamers who play RPGs, or MMORPGs except for maybe Pokemon, and World of Warcraft. Most casual gamers seem to only like those motion games like Wii sports, Kinect sports, Dance Central, DDR, Cooking Mama, Brain Age, etc, but are not really into games like Final Fantasy which follow a long story line, and involve missions and goals to complete the game.

In the future, there might be more PC games and PC controllers which fill the needs of casual gamers which like motion games.

It's a shame they won't though. That means the slow death of handheld consoles. Vita is already doing awfully, but the 3DS is doing fairly well.

I don't see myself moving away from PC :) would have to upgrade after 4-5 years max. so I can run all the latest games :)

I think casual gamers will be more likely to buy nintendo consoles like wii u.

I agree the Wii U and 3DS will probably be the best selling consoles for Casual gamers since most older people in their 40s or older owned a Nintendo Console, or know of someone who owned one. I believe Nintendo also has a great relationship with Sega since there are a lot of Sega games for the Wii, so Sega games which some casual gamers like will buy a Nintendo console to play Sega games. Plus, Nintendo's gamepad controllers are similar to the classic controllers of the 90s, so more people can quickly learn how to use them.
