Do you think Nintendo will ever make a standalone console every again? Or are they forever stuck on the Switch series?

Nintendo won't make a handheld again because you can't beat the 3DS. I think unless Nintendo makes a standalone emulator system, we will be stuck with Switches with larger screens.

I don't know where they could go from here. They made the Switch, which is a console and a handheld at the same time (or it can be used as both). Why would they go back to just being a console? Nintendo was the first one to come out with the wireless controller, if I'm not mistaken, for their stay at home console. How can they upgrade from that? Especially when they have to compete with Sony's Playstation and Microsoft's Xbox.....?

I think it is possible for Nintendo to make a regular cheaper standalone console like the Wii again because making another Switch style console which is faster could be more expensive for people to afford to buy. The price of batteries with long battery life, faster mobile processors and graphic chips, 8 inch touchscreens, mobile speakers, card sized SSDs, etc can be a lomore expensive in the future because of inflation, trade tariffs with China, Chinese electronic parts ban like a ban on Chinese RAM and batteries, and AI companies buying sprees causing electronic parts shortages from AI companies buying a lot of electronic parts to install on their AI datacenters and AI products like AI cameras, AI glasses like Meta Glass, AI computers, and self driving cars like Teslas.

More people may want to buy a standalone Nintendo console again where they can save a hundred dollars or more because standalone console don't need mobile parts like a touchscreen, speakers, volume buttons, built-in camera and microphone, portable detachable wireless controllers, or built-in controllers like the Switch lite.

Standalone consoles can also use disc drives like DVD and Blu-Ray disc drives to play games which is cheaper than using cartridges and memory cards with many GBs of storage space, and a standalone console can use full size SSDs and hard drives which is cheaper than card or postage stamp sized SSD drives.

More people may also prefer gaming with a standalone console with faster performance for 4K gaming, but don't want to spend too much money like buying the fastest gaming laptops which can cost thousands of dollars.

I don't seem them making a home console like the PS5 or Xbox Series for a while. The Switch fits both the handheld and console niche well, and Nintendo used to make a home console and a handheld so it made sense for them to mix the two. Even the Switch 2 is selling well and I suspect it might outsell the Switch someday.
