Will Nintendo Land really catch on like Wii Sports?

I'm not sure to be honest. The premise of the whole thing isn't quite as relatable as Wii sports is (theme parks vs sports, no prizes for guessing what has more mainstream appeal), the games aren't as simple to explain/easy to understand (sports are always ludicrously simple to understand the basics of, something like Luigi's Ghost Mansion or such like seems less so) and the art style might be overall repellant to Joe average.

Do you think Nintendo Land really has what it takes to be a mega hit like Wii Sports was?

I don't think it will. Like I think Nintendo is going to take Nintendo Land and take every bit of money out of it like Wii Sports by making new games of it and changing it.

Now what they should do is make it so it's actually like a theme park that your Mii goes to and the mini games are attractions. However you can also get collectables by getting Nintickets by using Nintokens doing the Chuck E. Cheese route. I mean that would be so cool because I like games where you can get collectables. It would be much fun.

Then again they didn't tell a lot about Nintendo Land so they may have these kind of things. Maybe not the tokens and tickets things to get collectables, but I don't know. It's just an idea.

It looks like my friends and I may enjoy Nintendo Land more than we did Wii Sports, but I think you are right about it not appealing to the general populous...

From what I've heard it's actually really fun (not that anyone here said it wasn't). The main problem is, as Nin said, the concept itself difficult to sell.

With Wii sports it was pretty evident what the game was about: using motion controls to play a sports game. With Nintendo Land, explaining it to someone would go something like, "Well, it's a game where you're in a theme park, there's a bunch of attractions based of Ninendo characters, and you play these mini-games using your Miis." Something like that doesn't exactly make me at all excited about the game.

Wii Sports was a mega hit? I thought it was just that one game that you play only because it's the only one you have. It's fun, sure, but how much do you really play it once you have more games? I don't think Nintendo Land will have that effect, it's kinda a different game.

Will probably appeal to a larger amount of people if they include online playing, but knowing Nintendo they probably believe that everybody still plays together in front of a small tv.

I'm going off-topic now, but I think that the one thing I really want Nintendo to do is to make a drawing/painting app for the Wii U controller and make a pen to use with it. Would give me more interest in it. Right now it looks a bit like a copy of this:http://www.razerzone.com/projectfiona just with a different control scheme and design...

I actually think Nintendo Land will be a pretty big success for the Wii U. It seems like it can be pretty fun and I'm sure Nintendo will bring out updates to add new attractions as time goes on and I agree with what was said above, that Wii Sports was the typical "I play it because I don't have a better game to play" for a lot of people. I did still occasionally play Wii Sports when friends were over but I know I certainly didn't visit the titles nearly as often as I did originally when I started getting better Wii titles.

For me, Wii Sports was sorta like Face Raiders for me. It was really fun at first but I rarely visit it now, besides for the occasional laugh that it gives me. I still think the 3DS should get some sort of version for Nintendo Land, since I don't plan on purchasing a Wii U right away.

I wouldn't think Nintendo Land will catch on. It's seemingly aimed at family play, but the games included are from pre-established games series. The Animal Crossing minigame, for instance, probably would not appeal to many people that haven't played AC before. The novelty is kind of lost on anyone not already versed in gaming.
