I know they've lost staff to up and coming companies like Playtonic, but... are their days of making any interesting, non Kinect games really over?

Will a new Banjo Kazooie or Conker or whatever game be announced soon?

No. I think Rare has reached the point of no return. Microsoft isn't doing anything with them. I'm sure they're coming up with a load of ideas and Microsoft is rejecting them. I have no proof of this, but I can only imagine so.

Yeah, that sounds about right. If Microsoft really wanted them to make something like that, then it would've been done long ago. Seeing what they did with the last banjo kazooie game, I don't think microsoft is going anywhere with them either. There's always halo though.

Everyone always blames MS for that game. Nuts and Bolts was designed by the original B/K creator and director originally for Game Cube. That was when he started the concept.

Brunn pointed out to me that the former Rare developers are making a new game in the B/K style, btw, called Yooka-Laylee,.

Right, but that's only a segment of the Rare company in a new company called playtonics. I think cheat was referencing the current Rare company. I'm super stoked to see how yooka-laylee turns out though.

Well, Rare put out that new Killer Instinct, so we'll have to see from there. I don't think MicroSoft will let them do platformers, but we can hope.

Yeah, I don't think they will either. At the same time though, it would be kinda weird seeing a full on platformer game on the xbox one. They need more, but it normally just feels so out of place whenever there are any.

Even Psychonauts and Alice: Madness Returns felt odd on the 360 despite being great games in their own right, so I agree there. The PS4 controller feels so close to a PS2 one to me that platformers feel more at home on it.

Well, isn't Project Spark on the Xbox? That has Conker in it, and the Conker games are platformers... technically.
Yes, but from my understanding Project Spark is a RPG Maker / Minecraft type sandbox game where you design your own things. People have recreated Zelda on there faithfully, from what I am told.

Oh, okay. Makes me wonder when Nintendo will get one of these types of games.
They won't. Even the Wii U cannot support it. Graphically it could support Minecraft, yes, but with all of the updates and such as well as other hardware factors it wouldn't work. Now, before anyone jumps down my throat as they are wanton to do, I do not mean the Wii U has inferior processing power or anything in order to support the game, I mean the way the system is built in relation to how a PS or XB system is built are widely varied. That means 4J Studios would have to build an engine to support MC on the Wii U from the ground up - which they will not do because they are trying to make the console versions catch up to the PC version with the intent of eventually having all versions get the same updates when they come out. Making it support a Nintendo console would make them set back way too far.

As for Project Spark... the Wii U couldn't even support it graphically if it tried.

4J just needs to hire a team to do the port. Minecraft has proven to be easy money on any platform.
4J IS the team that does the port. Microsoft / Mojang make the game.

The console port team at 4J Studios recently told Total Xbox that, well, they’re basically done with ports now, and they have no plans for any other systems in the near future. That leaves Nintendo fans high and dry, since neither the Wii U nor the 3DS is getting Minecraft

Mind you, 4J Studios was also the team to port Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie to the 360.

Yeah, 4J needs to expand. They'd get the console versions up to date quicker if they had more staff. Make Microsoft pay for it, they've got plenty of money to burn.
