The PC video card shortage caused by cryprocurrency mining cam make more people play mobile games on their smartphones and tablets because faster PC video cards now cost hundreds of dollars more, and are harder to buy because of cryptocurrency mining which is causing a shortage which is raising the price of video cards, and buying most of the video cards to use it for mining cryprocurrency like Bitcoin.

Mobile video chips like the Nvidia X1 on the Nintendo Switch, and similar Google Android tablet, and the iPad Air and Pro are becoming faster where they can play games in HD video resolution, and higher video quality modes.

The Nintendo Switch gaming tablet may get a few more buyers from gamers who can't afford to buy an expensive gaming desktop video card because the video card shortage is raising prices of faster video cards which is required for playing most popular PC games at medium to high video quality settings.

The onboard video chips built-into many cheaper Intel like the Atom, Celeron, and i3 , and AMD chips like the A4 are not fast enough to play many games without adjusting the video quality to low. These cheap CPUs usually need a faster video card if you want to play most games in HD, and medium video quality modes. The onboard video on more expensive Intel and AMD CPU/APU are sometimes not very good for gaming. Cryptocurrency mining maybe causing a supply shortage of faster processors because cryptocurrency mining also need fast processors, so it maybe harder to buy a fast CPU with better onboard video in the future if the miners are buying up a lot of fast CPUs to use for mining cryptocurrency.

The video card shortage for desktop computers may also make more people buy gamepad controllers, and keyboards for their smartphones and tablets if they don't want to play games with a touchscreen.

I highly doubt it, anyone who cares enough to be affected wouldn't go to something simple as mobile gaming.

Mobile gaming is becoming more advance where you can play games like Final Fantasy on a phone, and use a gamepad controller, and easily hook up a smartphone or tablet to a TV to play games on a bigger screen like the Nintendo Switch TV docking station which let you charge and display the Switch's video on a TV.

Beginners, casual, and poorer PC gamers may play games more on smartphones and tablets until the price of video cards go back to their regular prices before the video game shortage caused by cryptocurrency mining.

Some video card buyers can't afford to spend $500 on a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 video card which normally sells for $300 before the cryptocurrency mining trend.

If you don't already have a good video card installed in your computer, some newer and older games will not be playable at a good video resolution like 720P, 1080P, and other resolutions, and the frame rates maybe slow at higher video resolutions, and medium to high video quality settings. Some games may not even install, or run at low video quality settings until you install a video card which meets the minimum video card system requirements.
