Maybe for the 3DS or Wii U? So far they had pretty good roster of characters in Strikers Charged. If yes, who would you want in there as Captains and Sidekicks and why?

God,yes.
I could see it working nicely on the Wii U/3DS.
Touch Controls would make it a blast.
As for characters....Shy Guy should be MORE than a partner.

It's strange that there haven't been more games. Football is so popular you'd be surprised that Mario hasn't taken that series a bit further. Same story with baseball.
And on the subject of sidekicks, Goomba's probably the most obvious, having appeared in the majority of soccer themed Mario Party games. And, Bob-ombs should totally be in there too instead of being items.

I would be all for this, and not just because Shy Guys would have another chance of being playable.
I played the Gamecube one and it was pretty fun. It felt a bit lacking in terms of things to do... but it's a spin-off game, so I thoughtit was pretty good anyway. Portable versions always open up so many more possibilities as well.
