Yes since a lot of mobile phone operating systems like Google Android, Firefox OS, Web OS, etc are free for anyone to use,

Free Linux operating systems like ChromeOS, Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, and Puppy Linux are also increasingly becoming more popular because they are free to use on any computer, so they are cheaper then Windows and Apple computers.

Since more people are growing up learning how to use a PC, I can see this happening as they will know how to use free software.

I agree more people are growing up to learning to use PC, and most parents may pick a cheaper computer with free software and operating systems on it since it will cost less, and most very young kids don't really need paid software like Microsoft Office since they just use their computer to play online flash games, watch cartoons, and kids shows like Sesame street on Netflix.

Newer TVs, and settop boxes for TVs like the Roku can connect to the internet, and use a free version of Linux as its operating system to keep prices down.

I can see this happening as well. People seem to have less money nowadays than before.. so they are probably less likely to spend their money on software..

On the other hand, cable companies are trying to put bandwidth limits on people not only for piracy but because of services like Netflix that cut into their profits.. so the internet prices may not always be cheap even if someone opts for free vs paid software..

The computer hardware costs will also be less since free Linux based operating system can run on a lot of older computers which are too slow for Windows. You can run Linux on an older computer like a PC with a 800MHz-1GHz CPU, 512MB of RAM, 10GB of hard drive space, and a older video card. It won't be super fast, but fast enough for stuff like e-mail, YouTube, Facebook, music, office work, casual games, etc.

There is a $25-35 computer called the Rasperry Pi which runs Rasbian Linux which is free to install.

More People who never could afford the internet at home might buy cheaper Linux netbooks and tablets to use the free wireless internet access at a public library, school, or community center.

I also think libraries, schools, and government buildings may start using Linux more since it is free instead of paying thousands of dollars in software costs to Microsoft, and Apple for hardware and software.
