I think that wind up mechanical devices and toys still be be made in the future because wind up devices don't need a battery, gas, power adapter, and other source of power like solar power panels. Mechanical watches like Rolex watches, and music boxes which require it to be manual wound up makes them more enjoyable to own for people who feel winding things up is fun.

People who live in places with unreliable power, no gas, and not many places to buy batteries at an affordable price will most likely choose to buy wind up alarm clocks, timers, and tools which require the user to manual wind them up rather than electric and gas tools which need a source of power.

There are wind-up flash light and FM radios and phone chargers where you need to wind a crank to charge a battery or spring which generate enough power to power the lights and radio or phone charger. I think these wind up devices will still be made in the future.

A lot of people still prefer using wind-up kitchen timers which cost $1 and more at a store because you just need to wind them up by turning the timer dial, and setting the arrow to the time you want to set the timer to, and there is no AA battery to replace, so a wind-up timer is cheaper to use. Most digital kitchen timers can cost $10, so you can buy 10 wind up timers for the price of one digital timer.

Wind Up toys used to be bundled with Mc Donald's Happy Meals, and sold at Discount stores for $1 and more, so I see wind up toys still being popular for kids who want to play with cheap toys while leaving their more expensive, faster, and bigger toys like Power Wheels kids cars, Go-carts, dirt bike, drones, Remote control toys, etc at home.

A lot of people also buy weird stuff every year, so I think there is a chance that something which requires a user to wind something up like a Wind Up Record Player or Wind Up Fidget Spinner will be the next fad in the future.

Maybe, but it won't be something you find in a simple brick store. Most likely some online specialty store.
