I really don't like very short or very long series. It's good to have a decent episode number but not overly so

One Piece isn’t even 1000 episodes at this point iirc. I was leaning towards Sazae-San, which is significantly longer.
I do know manga fans who can’t stand the pacing of the anime adaptation.

less than a 100 eps away, and honestly they started to make the anime too soon and constant manga delays aren't helping.
IIRC, Toei was thirsty for the next Dragonball, and One Piece fit the bill.

It depends. If the story line is good enough to hold my interest long enough for me to watch it then I don't see why not.
