Windows 10 Fall Creators Update WARNING - Avoid latest download if you have THESE laptops

Yep, there we go again. ヽ(´ー`)ノ
Yet another example on how the concept "OS as a service" is a bad idea; news sites having to warn you to avoid an update, on a system where you can't avoid any updates that get installed without your permission.

I'm pretty sure that Microsoft just sees its users as beta testers.

Not so fast - Microsoft is not pushing this update out unless your computer is ready for it. This is for those who decides to get the ISO and install it themselves.

You actually mean to say they changed the way they apply updates recently?
Last time I remember playing around with Windows 10, is that updates were entirely unavoidable, unless you disconnect yourself from the internet forever.

Not once, but multiple times I've even been stuck in an endless update limbo, because the update never wanted to get through 18%, 24%, and similar, so I had to force turn off my tablet, and it reverted back to the older version.
And since there's no way to delay it for longer than 7 days, I had to suffer at least once a week.
And since there's no way to decide what to install and what not, you can guess how it went.

But now I'm using Linux 100% of the time again, just like in the old days.
At least that one lets me decide how I use my computers.

Currently the update isn't mandatory, so the only way you would get it, is if you went to the Windows 10 website and downloaded it manually. Those who do updates through their system won't get it yet.

IntoxNitram got the update without noticing because it got it automatically downloaded with the standard Windows Automatic Update according to IntoxNotrim reply on Have you upgraded to Windows 10 Fall Creator's update yet? which Danielx64 posted on PC-Mobile-Other sub-forum.

I think some countries like the UK, and Canada may get the Fall Creator Update as an automatic update if the user installed the Creator Update which was release a few months ago.

huh, I thought it wasn't required yet.

There is a chance that InoxNotrim's is a Windows Insider member where he gets early access to Windows versions before most people. I think the Fall Creator is not required for most people unless you plan to use one of the new bundled apps like the People's App on the System Tray.
