On Thursday during the Credit Suisse Technology Conference, Chief Operating Officer Kevin Turner provided more details about the Windows 10 "Threshold" roadmap (doc), reporting that the upcoming operating system may not appear on retail shelves until Fall 2015. We've heard this before, so it's no surprise. However, now we have an official time frame rather than one generated from rumor and speculation.

I bet Microsoft will release Windows 10 in Winter 2015.

Hmmm, then they should have held off on announcing it till at least mid winter. Unless they are aiming for a lot of hype build up and many beta stages.

I agree MS is trying to build up hype, and probably release a lot of Beta versions every few months.

Hopefully there would also be a free trial version which let you use Windows 10 for a month, or longer before you decide if you want to buy it.

I feel like I just got Windows 8 not that long ago, and it took me a while to get used to it. I do agree that they should have a free trial to make it easier for transitioning. I'll probably wait awhile anyways after their release.

I read recently that people who are using the latest beta version of Windows 10 needed to uninstall MS Office because of a bad Windows Update which is annoying if you have homework or office work due in the next few days where you need to use MS Office to finish some work.

I may upgrade to Windows 10 if it is free for Windows 8/8.1 users since my PC already has Windows 8.1 on it. But, I may wait before updating to 10 if I need to buy it.
