The first Windows 9 Preview version might not be released until either February or March 2015, a source familiar with Microsoft’s plans reports. Chinese leaker FaiKee has posted a screenshot on the My Digital Life forums that seems to indicate that the Windows 9 Preview Release won’t arrive until early next year.

My guest is the official version of Windows 9 would be release in 2016-2017 after the Beta, Preview, and Release Candidate versions have been fully tested, and fixed to not contain any problems, bugs, and user interface problems.

Hopefully, MS would bring back the Startmenu in Windows 8 before releasing Windows 9.

I thought for sure it come out late this year.

I think Windows 9 would take a while to be released to avoid confusing people, and a lot of people are no longer buying the latest versions of operating systems since so many people still use Windows XP, 7, and there are still a small percentage of people who use Vista which performs decently if you have 3-4GB of RAM.

Totally agree. There really is no need for any kind of new version for 3/4 years yet.

I think I couldn't give up Linux because I have some computers which run great on Linux because Windows runs very slowly on PC with 512-1024MB of RAM, and a slower CPU.

I used to think using Windows 8 would be difficult to use after using Windows 95-7 which kept the same user interface. But, after getting used to the Windows 8 user interface for a few weeks, I got used to all the basic features where using Windows 8 is pretty good. I like that Windows 8 uses less  than 500MB RAM, and does not used up much CPU cycles when I am doing tasks like browsing the web, watching video, etc.

Yes, Windows 8-8.1 is a very low CPU and RAM usage operating system. there are a lot of videos on YouTube with people installing Windows 8 on very old computers with 1GHz CPU, and 1GB of RAM  which is very slow compared to most of todays computers which are in the 2-3GHz with 4-8GB of RAM.

Many haven't switched to Windows 8 itself i don't know why they are coming out with Win 9. Hope this time they understand customers need and release a good OS.

I'm not sure what's new. I think most likely they just bring back the Start Menu, and add more online services like OneDrive, Office 365 online office suite, and Apps to Windows 9.

I think if you have Windows 8-8.1, there is no good reason to upgrade to Windows 9 because installing Classic Shell which is a free startmenu program which will bring back the Startmenu to Windows 8-8.1, and you can set Classic Shell to boot to the classic desktop.

Windows 8-8.1 is pretty good after installing Classic Shell onto it. I find Windows 8-8.1 uses less RAM, and CPU power after logging into Windows where my RAM usage is under 500MB, and CPU usage is under 1%. Windows 8 also only uses about 10GB of space on my hard drive.

Same for me. I would not upgrade to 9 until my computer breaks, lost, or get stolen by a robber who wants to steal a heavy desktop computer from the year 2006. I probably still be using Windows XP if my PC came with Windows XP instead of Vista, and 7 could run good enough on 1GB of RAM, and an older dual-core CPU.
