Do you think that is because of the dedication?

Most of the time, that's not the case at all and people had work overtime because of the lack of resources

Do you agree with that?

If I go into overtime, it's because I don't get off work on time at the end of my regularly scheduled shift. Everyone at my job tells me I'm better at that job than anyone else, which isn't untrue, but I have the one job in the whole building that no one wants touch with a ten foot pole. So, if a customer shows up at the last minute needing help, I usually end up going over and I end up accruing overtime by the end of the week. I've been getting overtime every week since Christmas.

A lot of times it isn't dedication which causes people to work overtime but rather the increased pay. 1.5 times normal pay is a decent reason to do some overtime. Racking up an extra 4 hours of OT a week can really help a budget out. (I mean that's basically an extra $150 on the paycheck)

Though yes, I have done OT to ensure that all the work got done. Since, in many ways, not doing the work would cost the company more than the OT pay. (I mean if we don't finish the job, it'll cause clients to be pissed off. And if that happens enough then they'll end the contract with us and go with someone else. Which means less work for us. And, by extension, less hours and pay for everyone.)

I know a lot of people who have to work OT just to make ends meet.

It is cool as long as you get paid for the overwork
But if that's not the case, then I don't see why people need to overwork so much
