Yes, I think there would always be some form of File sharing software like Bittorrent which relies on downloaders and uploaders/seeders internet connection to share files rather than websites because the downloads speeds are usually faster for files with a lot of seeders than cheap or free web hosts, sending big files through Windows Live Messenger, YIM, and Aim, it is free, and no extra user account is needed. Plus, if one of the uploaders goes offline, there are still a lot of other seeders to download from if the file is popular.

Fans of Anime, Foreign Films, and videos not easily available in North America still use Bittorent for downloading videos.

Oh they are definitely here to stay.

I don't like direct download on slower websites since they sometimes can't download, or download at very slow speeds like 10 KB/s if a lot of people are downloading the file, and if the website goes down, or the link is removed then it can't be downloaded.

There is Surf Bittorrent for Chromewhich let you use a plug-in to download files like Direct download from within the Chrome web browser with the Surf extension.

I think small and non-profit companies, artists, and music and video makers will use Bittorent to share files, or sell files like MP3 for a cheaper price because they don't need to buy expensive web hosting, share 30% of their profits with Apple, Google Play, or Amazon for hosting and promoting files. All they need are a bunch of computers to torrent the files online, and with faster internet service like Google Fiber, more people will use torrents to share files.
