I'm not sure if it would be eventually cheaper to build a Gaming PC than console.

But, with a Gaming PC, you can just buy the parts you need to play PC games, and you are not forced to buy motion controllers, fancy touchscreen/touchpad controllers, TV/multimedia Features, and other accesories which come with a console which brings up the cost of new consoles by bundling more accessories and features with the console.

Sometimes, you can re-use old/used parts you already own or buy used on eBay like the case, keyboard, mouse, power supply, video card, RAM, so the cost of building a Gaming PC is less expensive.

I think once there are more CPU and video card companies instead of just Intel, AMD, and Nvidia, the price of computer parts would be more cheaper because of more competition competing for buyers of CPU and video cards. The cheaper price of CPU and video cards would make building PCs more inexpensive.

I can build a PC with the same power of PS4 for only 200$ (used parts)
6770HD produces a little less teraflop than PS4 GPU and it costs as low as 30$
20$ athlon 2 x2 amd cpu unlocked to quad core phenom II x4
20$ 4gb ram (used or new, depends)
45$ motherboard (this is brand new)
15$ case with crappy psu
30$ used 500GB hdd seagate
30$ + 20$ + 20$ + 45$ + 15$ + 30$ = 160$
Add 20$ for a 450W psu with 1x6-pin pci-express cable
Add 20$ for a 6850HD graphic card
So why in the world would I buy a PS4???
And we are not talking about Xbox One....

Thanks for the list of affordable PC parts for building a $200 PC.

I think as faster Mobile chips like the Tegra 4 by Nvidia, and the Qualcomm SnapDragoon 800 become more common, and there will be more game makers who make desktop games for Mobile Chips, we may see desktop computers with more affordable mobile chips, RAM, and mobile video chips where we can build or buy a desktop with mobile chips for $100-175 to play games with keyboard and mouse because there are more mobile chip companies like Nvidia, Texas Instrument, Qualcomm, MediaTek, and Samsung making mobile CPU and video chips which bring down the prices because of more companies competing for buyers compared to Desktop chips which only have 3 big companies which are AMD, Nvidia, and Intel.
