It is possible that hard drives would be sold as a few large sizes in the future when the cost of large storage hard drive like 4TB and larger drives become more affordable. Most PC buyers are can afford to pay slightly more money for a bigger hard drive, and buyers are not saving much money by buying a smaller storage size hard drives in some cases.

I think it depends if they can compact it, I think starting at 3 TB most drives become 3.5mm in thickness.

I think when hard drive reach its physical storage space limit for the 3.5 size, and the biggest size hard drive becomes affordable for home users, most or all new hard drivefs would be sold at the maximum storage limit for 3.5 hard drive.
