Would there ever be an alternative to the internet?

Possibly, there can be an alternative to the internet, but it won't be as big as the internet, or as fast. Plus, people have to buy super big and strong antannaes or satalites to communicate with other people on the other side of the world without wires.

If SOPA/PIPA passes, and net neutrality no longer exists, I see people and companies spending more time to make an internet alternative where there is more privacy, and freedom compared to the SOPA monitored internet where sites can be closed for linking to a copyrigted song playing in a video on YouTube.

I think SOPA/PIPA should not pass because everyone has their own privacy and they should respect it. I read somewhere there would be a protest of some sort against this bill on 17th or 18th January.

If they do make an internet alternative I wouldn't be surprised if it had the same fate, something similar to sopa.
