I have an interesting question for you guys.

Would you purchase a Wii U console if it could not play Wii games?

Yes. I mean, I already have a Wii, so how would that affect me?

I have a Wii, so I doubt it would have much effect on whether I would get a Wii U or not.

However, the fact that the PS3 wasn't backward compatible did kinda make me consider not getting one.
It didn't feel right considering all the PS2 games that I wanted.

Eventually, I bought it and in the end I got a PS2 as a gift, so it was all good :p

Possibly, if the Wii U is cheaper since I'm getting one less feature, so it should cost less since it can't play Wii games.

But, if it is the same price as it is today then No I would not buy the Wii U if it can't play Wii games.

I agree that with the current price it feels a bit of a letdown if it didn't have the backwards compatibility and to be frank, it would have annoyed me as I have come to expect it, it is kind of a gaming paradigma.

The fact that it has the wii-compatibility is an encouraging thing, more like a bonus.

Doesn't bother me at all. I would just buy a cheap Wii if I wanted to play the games. xD

I dunno, I wouldn't really consider purchasing a Wii U anyway. I'm not really big on the Original Wii. :p
