I am not really interested in owning a vacation home because I am afraid a vacation house would drop in value, and I end up losing money when I want to sell it in the future. Home repairs, property tax, and other home expenses can also be very expensive,
I feel having a vacation house may have unwanted problems caused by criminals like trespassers who break into the house to steal things, and live in the house for free when the home is empty when it is not being used by the owner. There are also vandals who vandalize houses for different reasons like they like vandalizing houses.
I'm doing good just taking care of one house. I don't need a second house somewhere else that I'll only be living out of occasionally when I decide to go on vacation.

I'm too much of a homebody to want a vacation home. Now, that's not saying I wouldn't mind my permanent residence to be like a vacation home! We have furkids & like our routine. It's similar to going away in a camper. You need two of everything so you don't have to pack all of it all the time. The vacation home would have to be stocked with furniture, kitchen appliances, things that would make it a home. Too much work for me to consider being called a vacation!
I would love to have a vacation home some day! I would treat it like a rental property though perhaps something on Airbnb to have as additional source of income. I would like to establish one that can pay for itself at least.
