It would be nice to take time off before switching jobs unless I need money to buy food, pay utility bills, and for entertainment like buying music and movies to keep myself entertained.

I have been thinking of taking some 2-3 weeks.
My family is against it but I feel like I need a break after working for almost 4.9 years continuously.

Well, I still have 3 weeks of vacation left. If I am able to find another job, I can afford to take some time off because my current employer has to pay me for any unused vacation time. And I know I'm not going to get any vacation time that the new job, at least for the first year anyway. Now, I would like to give my current employer a notice but if they decided that they didn't want to play nice when I turn my notice, then I've thought about just taking some vacation days and just having fun with some days off before I go start the new job. It depends on their behavior when I give them a notice.

I love having days off where I can lounge. Normally, I have enough books on my shelves that I don't have to worry about getting bored.
