A World of Warcraft character sold recently for the ungodly sum of $9,700. That's real cash too; not fake role-playing money.

The avatar, a Night Elf rogue, sports The Twin Blades of Azzinoth dropped by Illidan Stormrage and 4/5 of a tier six armor set, making it arguably the best equipped Word of Warcraft character on earth. On the negative side: It's a damn night elf, meaning it's alliance, and therefore worth about 65 cents in our eyes.

The seller, Zeuzo from the Method guild on the Sylvanas server, is building a new rogue.

Interestingly (maybe tragically) the buyer's account hasn't been logged onto since September 3rd, prompting speculation that the most expensive character evar has been banned by Blizzard.

Selling and buying accounts is something very common in World of Warcraft, even though it's strictly forbidden by Blizzard. Good geared characters are often sold for a few houndred dollars although a few weeks ago one of the currently best geared rogues available was sold - for 7,000 Euro (~$9,700).

The original owner, a Night Elf Rogue named Zeuzo from the guild Method on Sylvanas(EU) was one of the two only people in the world wielding both legendary swords dropping off Illidan Stormrage, final boss of the Black Temple. He also had 4/5 parts of the tier6 armor set, together with various other drops from Black Temple and Mount Hyjal, which could be considered as the best gear available in the game right now.

The new owner goes under the name Shaks and has moved the character to the Kazzak(EU) realm.

Zeuzo, here's a few tips on what you can buy for 7,000€.

# A Rolex watch
# A Car
# A VTL Pre-Amplifier
# 250,000 WoW Gold
# 3 nights in a suite at the Palms in Las Vegas
# A nice vacation for you and 4 friends in Australia
# 2 Alienware Area-51 ALX Desktops
# 209 Steelpad S&S SK Edition

this is a joke, i play WoW alot i would never dream of buying a character to use, half the fun of the game is to startn your character off from scratch and build it up yourself. the same goes for power leveling whats the point of buying the game, paying for the subscription for it and then paying someone to play it for you???? the logic of this escapes me. about as far as i will go is twink up a character or 2 when my main has reached a decent enough lvl.
