I wonder how affordable Xiaomi's electric cars will be, and what unique features come with Xiaomi cars.

It is kind of neat that people will someday be able to drive a Xiaomi electric car, and have a Xiaomi smartphone which is being charged by plugging the phone into the cars' USB port or using a wireless charging pad built into the car's interior or dashboard.

Having a Xiaomi car and phone can make it easier with a custom car connection app or feature to connect the phone and car together to play music, or display phone apps like Maps/GPS apps on a car's dashboard monitor, and play audio on the cars speakers.

It's quite interesting to see all these companies getting into the electric vehicle market. This is obviously great for us because more competition leads to both better tech and better prices

I agree. I feel it could be good for electric car sellers as well because they can re-sell used electric cars which people trade in for new electric cars at the same dealer. Electric car companies can also re-sell unused electric car parts to other electric car brands to earn extra money instead of just selling cars.

+1 on that. We have a few charging points near us as well but considering what the charging times are. it's not really the most convenient option.

If there was some magical way to where you can charge it in 5 mins, it’d be cool, but that’s kind of unrealistic. I feel it’s more realistic to have a way to charge it at home for people who don’t have garages.

Some kind of battery or charger you can charge inside your home, then pop it in your car overnight. The charging stations will be for when you’re out and about.

I remember seeing a news story that the US will be spending a lot of money to install a lot of electric car chargers in the US, so the charging sutuation could get better.

There are a few electric cars which can charge itself with solar panels which uses the sun and lights to charge the battery. But, it can take a few days to fully charge the battery, and electric cars with solar panels cost more.

I think some electric car charging cables have a lock hole/loop on the charger cable for attaching a pad lock to the charger cable to prevent people from unplugging your car as easily without breaking the lock, or using a key to open the lock.

Unfortunately, someone can still pull very hard on the charger cable or use a electric battery powered hand saw to cut the cable, and end up breaking the cable, and electric charging port on a electric car.

I've always wondered about that but I do think there is a locking mechanism to stop that happening like froggyboy mentioned.

I feel a wireless/keyless lock could be good for people who are in a rush. There are wireless Bluetooth pad locks which let you unlock and lock a lock with a smartphone app or remote control.

But, if the lock or lock remote control almost runs out of battery power, you need to replace the battery soon.

Push to start cars have a key on the inside of the fob or whatever the term is for that.
